Decent sized waves, but not much wind. The waves would have been largest at Gowlane which would have made getting out very hard, so we went to Kilcummin for smaller waves and a better wind direction. Even so it was difficult to get out in the gusty wind. Tried with 5.3 at first. Eventually made it out back, tacked, fell in, barely enough wind to waterstart. Tried with 5.8 - still hard work and did a lot of swimming. Once you were down in the white water it was hard to get going again. A few backside rides. Tried turning frontside but turned too far in front of the wave.

Some good sailors out. They were getting some good frontside rides, but they were also swimming a lot - made me feel better about my efforts.

Note - a huge anchor is exposed at low tide just to the left of the stream.
